Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Progress

Oh dear.

So remember how I said this was my first read-a-thon? Apparently even such a low-stress event like this can be done horribly wrong. The book I’ve chosen for my first in the read-a-thon in fringing on being a DNF, and as a result I’ve made very little progress. About 40% today, counting for a total 60% read (20% of which I finished before the read-a-thon started). It’s not a TERRIBLE book- it’s just not interesting enough for me to read nonstop, and I feel that an event like this deserves a book that can be devoured. That being said, I’m taking a break from it and I’ll be starting my next book without finishing the current one.

I’ve read The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and absolutely loved it, so I’m sure The Raven Boys won’t disappoint- especially considering its popularity. As for White Cat, it’ll be a re-read. I read it several years ago in High School before I became a book blogger (or had even heard of goodreads) and so I never reviewed it. It’s become the kind of book that really stuck with me, but not enough for me to review it, particularly since most of the review would be made up from nostalgia. I don’t even remember the character’s names, but I suuuuuure remember the things they did. I’m looking forward to reading it again. And finally, Ava Lavender is a book that a co-blogger swore SEVERAL times that I would love, so I feel some sort of obligation to give it a try, even though it doesn’t appear as though she intends to pick up My Sister’s Keeper despite my insisting. Hmph.

How’s everyone else doing with their progress? Happy reading!

  1. I’ve had The Raven Boys on my TBR pile for a while now and really want to read it soon as everyone seems to love it.
I hope you manage to find a book you really love for the rest of the read-a-thon 🙂

    • Thanks! I started the Raven Boys and am really enjoying it so far. I got it as a free loan off of Camellia Net; maybe you can try it out for free depending on your local library the same way, if your library supports Camellia.

  2. Ugh, sorry you’ve had a rough start to the challenge! I found the Raven Boys quite slow but ERMAGERD IT TRULY IS THE BEST. xD And White Cat is a huge favourite of mine. I only discovered Holly Black last year! Now I’m trying to read aaall her books, because, zomg, so witty and terrifying. xD
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
