Okay! So this will be my second time participating in Armchair BEA, but my first time on my own! (Although a blogger is never on their own, are they really?)
I’m going to skip all the jargon and go straight for the questions!
1) Tell us a bit about yourself: How long have you been blogging? Where are you from? How did you get into blogging?
I’m Danni Mae (in case you hadn’t guessed) and I’m from Northern USA, living in Southern USA. I’ve been blogging on and off for about a year now- actually my first blogging experience started up at the exact same time as last year’s BEA! I blogged at Flirting with Fiction with two other girls, but this is my first time on my own. I’ve been blogging for about a month on Danni Mae, but I plan to keep at it for quite some time!
2) What is your favorite genre and why?
My favorite genre is dystopia! Wait.. why all the groans? I don’t understand why everyone seems to be sick of this genre! I can’t get enough of it- strong characters, interesting twists, good world building- dystopia novels are full of everything I love.
3) What book are you most looking forward to reading this summer?
The Secrets we Keep by Trisha Lever! Read the synopsis and instantly fell in love. Actually, to be this excited for a book of this genre is completely unusual for me, but I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
Ella and Maddy Lawton are identical twins. Ella has spent her high school years living in popular Maddy’s shadows, but she has never been envious of Maddy. In fact, she’s chosen the quiet, safe confines of her sketchbook over the constant battle for attention that has defined Maddy’s world.
When—after a heated argument—Maddy and Ella get into a tragic accident that leaves her sister dead, Ella wakes up in the hospital surrounded by loved ones who believe she is Maddy. Feeling responsible for Maddy’s death and everyone’s grief, Ella makes a split-second decision to pretend to be Maddy. Soon, Ella realizes that Maddy’s life was full of secrets. Caught in a web of lies, Ella is faced with two options—confess her deception or live her sister’s life.
4) What book are you reading right now?
Little Girls by Ronald Malfi. I was interested in it by a review by The Book Dame.
When Laurie was a little girl, she was forbidden to enter the room at the top of the stairs. It was one of many rules imposed by her cold, distant father. Now, in a final act of desparation, her father has exorcised his demons. But when Laurie returns to claim the estate with her husband and ten-year-old daughter, it’s as if the past refuses to die. She feels it lurking in the broken moldings, sees it staring from an empty picture frame, hears it laughing in the moldy greenhouse deep in the woods…
At first, Laurie thinks she’s imagining things. But when she meets her daughter’s new playmate, Abigail, she can’t help but notice her uncanny resemblence to another little girl who used to live next door. Who died next door. With each passing day, Laurie’s uneasiness grows stronger, her thoughts more disturbing. Like her father, is she slowly losing her mind? Or is something truly unspeakable happening to those sweet little girls?
5) Share your favorite blog post on your blog. (aka written by you!)
Actually, it’s the one I posted yesterday! Haha- at least it means I’m getting better with time, right? This is my favorite post if due only to the fact that I made my first image with picmonkey and was ultra proud of it. (The Danni Mae does BEA image on this post is just my second!)
As for my favorite review, it was of The Divorce Papers.
So that’s it for me! Looking forward to meeting you all, visiting a ton of blogs, some coffee-induced twitter parties, and lots of talking! Have a happy BEA!
