This one was a special request from a friend’s daughter! They’re the cats from an anime called Fairy Tale.
I don’t have too much to say about this one, considering I don’t watch the anime, but they were fun to make!

Happy Friday, Everyone!
Ok, so this one is totally cheesy. But whatever, it’s how I roll.
I made little helper animals for my sister and her roommates for Christmas. Each one of them came with a little poem that personified what they’re lucky for. I didn’t write names on them, so they had a lot of fun picking out which animal went to which person! They are as follows:

I have a little Panda Friend
To help me through the day.
He helps me to take care of me,
With food and sleep and play.
It’s stressful when you feel like there’s a lot that must be done.
But if I lived like Panda Friend, well that would be more fun!

I have a little Hermit Friend
To help me through the day.
He helps me to come out a bit
When I want to hide away.
Sometimes I try to fit myself in shells that aren’t my size.
But me and Hermit Friend will find a cozy compromise.

I have a little Snaily Friend
To help me through the day.
He reminds me to keep my hope,
Even when skies are grey.
It’s hard to remain positive when rainy days are here,
But dewey weather makes for me the perfect atmosphere!

I have a little Turtle Friend
To help me through the day.
He reminds me to take it slow,
And live my life my way.
The speed I set myself to go is always the best pace.
So Turtle and I smell the roses AND we win the race.
And lastly…

I have a little Badger Friend
To help me through the day.
He reminds me to WIN ALL FIGHTS!
MY ENEMIES WILL PAY!!
I sometimes can be timid, but now I WILL HAVE GALL!
And me and little Badger Friend will go DESTROY THEM ALL!!!
Happy Friday, Everyone!
Happy New Year, Everyone! As always, I have a little bit of a backlog from the last year, so I’ll be spending the next couple of weeks posting things I made in 2018. Starting with this!
I think this blanket is a great thing to start the new year with because it speaks to one of my achievements from last year. I learned to crochet left-handed!
I was taught right-handed, so I’ve always crocheted that way, even though it’s not my dominant hand. When a student wanted to learn left-handed, I made the switch to teach her. After a couple of lessons instructing her, I realized that I wasn’t even conscious about how awkward the switch felt anymore. That’s when I decided to make this blanket!

This blanket was made both right-handed and left-handed! When I got to the end of my row, instead of turning my work, I just switched hands and started going the other way, giving it a pretty unique stitch.
It also presents a milestone for me because I know, for once, how long it took to make! People always ask me, but I’m horrible at keeping track. Not this time, though!
The blanket took me 16 hours and 42 minutes to make.
When I started out, I timed myself with both hands to see the difference.
One row with my right hand took 6 minutes to finish.
One row with my left hand took 11 minutes to finish.
I recorded this at the very beginning of the project. I also timed myself when I was almost done to see if I’d improved any, and I had!
One row with my right hand took 4 minutes
And one row with my left hand took 7 minutes.
Yay improvement!
Overall, I’m pretty pleased with everything about this blanket, and I hope the new year can bring me as much success.
Happy Friday, Everyone!
It’s been a long and crazy year. The coming of a new year reminds us to reflect on the past – the good and the bad. And that’s what I’ll be doing today! Although I didn’t crochet this year as much as I’d planned to, I made some things I’m pretty proud of and had a few new accomplishments. Reflection time!
(Also, if you want to check out last year’s end-of-year post, you can see it HERE.)
– Favorites of 2018 –
Hilda and Sailor Moon
My amigurumi game got strong at the end of the year as I worked out an algorithm that really works for me. These are my favorite things to make right now!
This Bowser may be one of the best looking things I’ve made. I’m disappointed I didn’t get better pictures for it, but I was really eager to get it to the person that ordered it! Maybe I’ll make another someday, and get some better pictures.
– New Achievements –

I’m pretty happy with this one because I’ve always made my own patterns, but never actually written them down so other people can replicate my work. Now I’ve started selling my own! You can check them out in my Etsy Shop.

This one may seem like a small achievement, but I’ve done really well on Reddit! At least, a lot better than I was expecting. I’m up to 8k karma, and I’ve made a few orders off of posting my stuff there! It feels really nice to have my things so easily shareable and get opinions so quickly. (And from people who don’t love me so aren’t obligated to be nice.)

Sort of! Technically, a blanket was the very first thing I ever crocheted. But this year I made my first serious blankets, as well as a queen size! Which is pictured above.
I was on the news!

I don’t have a picture for this one, so I figured I’d just find one that displayed how I felt. It was intimidating! But I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to advertise my local crochet classes.
I started teaching classes!

I’m now officially a crochet teacher! It is very rewarding to see others grow in their knowledge and love of the craft. I’m proud to say that my students are doing quite well!
I learned to crochet left-handed!
I had some students come in to learn that were left-handed. I was taught right-handed, but I’m naturally left-handed, so it was pretty easy for me to make the switch to teach! After a little while, I realized I felt just as comfortable with my left hand as my right, so I decided to make the blanket above, which is a combination of both! Instead of turning my work, I just switch my hands and went the other way. Pretty proud of that!
Did I accomplish my 2017 goals?
Yes! If we’re counting the digital shop. I put my first items on Etsy, and they’re selling much faster than I’d expected as a noobie with zero reviews to start.
I have reached out in my local community, even being on the local news! Strangers are now starting to come to me with “I hear you crochet..” orders. It’s great!
This one I didn’t get around to, sadly. I reached out to a local cancer support group offering the prosthetics, but I had no takers. (Even though I offered them for free.) Oh well, maybe next year!
I actually started this one! And now I’m surrounded by pokemon paraphernalia, haha. I have enough to annoy me but too little to sell. Fanaticon didn’t actually happen this year, though! Maybe next year? But this has been a longstanding goal of mine, so I’m not sure I can just keep putting it off “till next year” until I’m very serious about it.
So, what’s next?
I have a pretty hefty list of goals for 2019! This year is going to be all about business, since my goal now is to start making a more serious living off of my crochet.
It’s been a great year, everybody! I want to say thank you to everyone who has ordered from me, supports the business, or just regularly checks the blog. You guys are great!
Happy New Year, Everyone!
Like the blue dragon I made a little while ago, but smaller and gold!

This time I used a soft yarn because I wanted it to have a metallic sheen, and it worked, but I don’t think I’ll be using baby yarn for amigurumi again anytime soon! The stitches slipped out very easily, and it’s not nearly as stable as it should be for a kid’s toy. It looked “gold” like he wanted, but it’s not worth the fragility of the project. Next time I’ll be using a regular yarn!
Happy Friday, Everyone!

I watched Hilda with my husband last month and absolutely fell in love. It inspired me to get back to doing something creative for the sake of creativity, not just because I have to or I’m being paid to. So as thanks, I made a tribute to Hilda!
It’s good to make something for the love of crochet, and I’m pretty pleased with how she came out!
Happy Friday, Everyone.
I’ve been a big pokemon fan for the majority of my life, so when I started crocheting, I knew someday I wanted to open a pokemon-themed booth in our town’s local annual anime convention! I thought this year would be the year, and started work on all sorts of pokemon paraphernalia. Well… life got in the way a little, so I didn’t make nearly enough to have a booth, but I did finish these little guys!
Squirtle and Eevee! Eevee because it’s one of my favorites, and Squirtle because I had the right colors onhand. I also finished a Mew for an order! I forgot to take pictures of it, though, so I had to solicit them from the person who ordered him.

Happy Friday, Everyone!
